The unit has two dedicated mammography machines, one of which is a state of the art digital machine, which is linked to computer aided detection. Stereotactic and core biopsies as well as localisations of non-palpable lesions can be performed under mammographic control. There is an ultrasound machine, which is also used to assist with biopsies and localisations of palpable lesion. As well as this, there is also a bone densitometry machine for checking osteoporosis. Patients can also be referred to see a specialist Endocrinologist on the same day as having their osteoporosis scan should the need arise.
