Clinical Governance - Medical Speciality Groups
These groups meet to provide formal communication between peers in the same speciality and will take the form of annual meetings with CEO/CNO and other hospital staff as appropriate. All specialties will have a forum.

Purpose of the Groups
All these groups will contribute to the clinical governance strategy of the hospital by providing a forum to review and take a measure of responsibility for:
- Guiding practice within their speciality and keep abreast of legislation including promoting evidenced based practice by reviewing and evaluating NICE guidelines, relevant guidelines from the Royal Colleges and NHS National Service Frameworks.
- Develop care pathways and guidelines founded on evidence based practice
- Promote multi-disciplinary patient review
- Contribute to the content of patient information
- Promote clinical audit including reviewing clinical incidents and complaints
- Assess user satisfaction with service
- Review provision of facilities and equipment within specialty
- Staffing, including training and development needs
