During your stay - Day case patients
Your consultant will dictate your plan of care and discharge criteria, along with a follow-up appointment, if required. Your operation and condition will determine whether you are visited by your consultant. However, if you wish to speak to your consultant about any concerns, this can be arranged by the nursing staff.
The nursing and multidisciplinary staff will assist you in your day to day needs and complete your plan of care as prescribed. This will include lines of communication and any issues you may experience when you return home, such as access to rest, hygiene and toilet facilities.
If you have any worries whatsoever during your stay, please do not hesitate to let us know so that we may resolve them without delay. Both the floor staff and duty manager are available at all times.
You will be given advice on any wounds you may have. An additional visit may be required to have your wound checked or stitches removed. If appropriate, we will arrange a follow-up appointment for you, together with a note to your GP about your stay in hospital.
