Dietitian
A comprehensive dietetic service is available for all inpatients and outpatients during their treatment. The facility is provided by a fully qualified Registered Dietitian who holds current registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC) and is also a member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA).
The aim of the service is to ensure that referred patients' nutritional status or symptoms are monitored and, wherever possible, maintained or improved.
Registered dietitians have the professional knowledge and experience to establish nutritional needs and to recommend appropriate nutritional treatment.
Goals or care plans for nutritional treatment are designed to be realistic and agreed in advance with the patient or their carer. The dietitian works cooperatively with other members of the multidisciplinary team to integrate patients' nutritional treatment into their overall care.
